Field Operations Associate

About us: The Centre for Policy is a Shillong-based think-and-do tank established by the Living Roots Foundation. The Centre collaborates with international organisations, government bodies, academic institutions, and civil society to advance meaningful and sustainable progress in Meghalaya and beyond.
The Centre is the implementation partner of the Young People’s Action Group (YPAG), a pioneering initiative supported by UNICEF that brings youth voices to the forefront of climate resilience, healthcare, and community well-being.
The Centre is inviting applications for key positions to help drive this mission.
About the Role: The Field Operations Associate will play a central role in driving the implementation of the Young People’s Action Group (YPAG) project across Meghalaya. This is a short-term, contract position fixed for the duration of the programme (4 months), with the possibility of extension upon advance notice and subject to project requirements.
Responsibilities:

Lead field-level implementation of project activities across districts of Meghalaya.

Facilitate youth participation in workshops, consultations, and training sessions.
-
Conduct research and prepare policy notes and evidence briefs.

Assist in monitoring and evaluation of climate-related policies affecting healthcare and well-being.

Assist in managing digital advocacy and communications to amplify the Centre’s work with its partners.

Support the design and delivery of training modules, workshops, and peer-learning sessions.

Prepare regular progress reports, case studies, and documentation of field activities.

Maintain accurate records of meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.

Uphold safeguarding standards and child/youth protection protocols in all field activities.
Qualifications (Required):
-
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Policy, Public Administration or Law.

Strong research and writing skills.
-
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
-
3 years of full-time experience in youth engagement, advocacy, or programme coordination.

Willingness to travel extensively across the State.
-
Collaborative mindset and cultural sensitivity.
-
Commitment to child rights, equity, and culturally grounded approaches to resilience.

Written and spoken fluency in English, along with proficiency in either Khasi or Garo, to ensure effective field communication.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.

Note: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in youth engagement or project management work.
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Social Work, Public Policy, Public Administration or Law.

Experience in organising and conducting workshops, training sessions, and community consultations.

Demonstrated ability to guide and support early-stage initiatives and youth-led projects.

Professional experience engaging with government institutions, academia, civil society organisations, and youth networks in Meghalaya.

Proven leadership in climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, or healthcare resilience.

Ability to coordinate effectively with faculty members, technical trainers, and institutional partners.

Strong organisational, documentation, and reporting skills.
Additional Preferred Competencies:

Experience in monitoring and evaluation of field activities, including data collection and reporting.

Familiarity with safeguarding standards and domestic and international child and youth protection protocols.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Flexibility to adapt to dynamic field conditions and evolving project needs.
Compensation:
-
Rs. 30,000/- per month (This offer is commensurate with prevailing standards among government and civil society organisations in Meghalaya).
Note:
-
This position will be based in Shillong, India, with frequent travel throughout Meghalaya.

Screening Process for the Associate role

Candidates for the Associate role will be required to undertake a screening process to be considered for selection.
