Jade Jeremiah Lyngdoh

Jade is Director of the Centre for Policy, where he leads its strategy and institutional development, building partnerships with international organisations, government agencies, academic institutions, and civil society networks. 

 

His work lies at the intersection of human rights and human development, with a focus on strengthening access to justice and countering misinformation.

Educated at the National Law University, Jodhpur (B.A, LL.B with honours in Constitutional Law), Jade was awarded a scholarship by Meta.

 

He subsequently held a fellowship at the National Law School of India University, supporting the Government of Meghalaya in designing policy solutions to address complex social and economic challenges in the state.

Jade has produced expert submissions to United Nations Special Rapporteurs, established capacity-building programmes for grassroots stakeholders, and provided authoritative legal analysis to government agencies. His work has been cited in submissions before the Supreme Court of India and he has contributed to reports and advocacy by international organisations including Human Rights Watch and Access Now.

Earlier in his career, Jade served as Research Assistant to a member of the High-Level Panel of Legal Experts on Media Freedom, then chaired by Amal Clooney, contributing to its landmark report on international standards and blasphemy laws.

 

He has also acted as petitioner in proceedings before the Indian courts to strengthen privacy protections (Jade Jeremiah Lyngdoh v. Union of India & Ors), and has utilised the Right to Information Act to expose executive-ordered internet shutdowns and the deployment of facial-recognition technology absent statutory safeguards.

 

His commentary on constitutional law, human rights, and public affairs has appeared in leading Indian publications including The Wire, The Telegraph, and Hindustan Times.
