Media Conference

The Centre curated a conference in partnership with the Department of Information and Public Relations to build the capacity of journalists, media students and practitioners, convening representatives from UNICEF, the BBC, Access Now, the Wikimedia Foundation and other sector leaders in dedicated sessions.

Report on Presidential Reference to the Indian Supreme Court

The Centre released a report on the ongoing Presidential Reference before the Supreme Court of India and, having advised the Office of the Advocate General of Meghalaya on inputs to the state’s submissions, was formally acknowledged in the written pleadings filed with the Court.

The Centre is currently planning additional capacity-building engagements for journalists and media students to safeguard and strengthen an independent media ecosystem.

Climate Change Legislation

The Centre is currently collaborating with the Government of Meghalaya to draft legislation that strengthens environmental safeguards and establishes a robust framework for coordinated climate action

The Centre is collaborating with key stakeholders to convene a landmark convening aimed at charting actionable pathways that ensure children with disabilities are visible, valued and able to live with dignity.

Inputs to OHCHR

The Centre has submitted expert inputs to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in preparation for the Fifth Session of the Forum on Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, contributing perspectives from Meghalaya on inclusive governance and climate justice
